Unity

Pope Frances has been making efforts to unite Christian churches. Last night on my way to work it was the topic on Catholic radio. There were many interesting and different views on this topic. The questions included, should there be one Christian denomination? What kind of sacrifices would have to be made? How can we accomplish it?
Personally, I think it would be great to have One Holy Apostolic Church in which all Christians lived in harmony. Do I think it will happen? Not in my lifetime. I agree that we need to be more ecumenical and that a united Church is exactly what Jesus wants but I think there are way to many prejudices and theological differences for it to happen any time soon. I always have to bite my tongue when I hear people say, "All churches are the same, so it doesn't matter where we go". All churches are not the same. If they were, there would be one church! So what do you think about this? Please comment.

Interesting topic but it won't happen in multiple lifetimes. It would be nice if the Christian denominations which were once Catholic were all one. I think that this is a possibility with some of the religions that are very close to the Catholic faith.
To the point of the comment "all churches are the same", we all know that they are not. I can actually say that I love my church and my God. I have been blessed to have belonged to 5 great parishes in my lifetime. Very active in my last 2 but truly in "love" with Our Lady of Guadalupe.
All churches are not the same and it is not the building, it is the people, the pastor, the volunteering committees and much more.

All churches are not the same, in fact not all Catholic or any other denomination church is the same. We all have the same basis for our faith. To love God, to love Jesus, and to love others. But each denomination has its tradition and it's own way of spreading the word. That is why this is such a great country with Freedom of Religion, people can choose their place of worship and it is great as long as they are being fed!
